Fall Fitness Activities in Your City
Fall is one of the best seasons to take advantage of the outdoors while also getting in a great workout. It’s beautiful to watch the leaves change or to enjoy the weather as it begins to cool off. We found five great fall fitness activities to explore in major cities around the country so that you can soak up the autumnal beauty around you.
Austin: Zombie Charge
Taking place on October 21st, the Austin, TX Zombie Charge is not your typical 5k. Not only are there 12+ obstacles runners must navigate, but runners will also be chased by zombies throughout! If racing isn’t your thing, you can also sign up to be a zombie.
Boston: Fall Bike Tour
Take in the gorgeous colors of the changing leaves, as well as Boston sights you may never have visited, on this 15 mile bike tour. See local gems like the Boston Common and the Rose Kennedy Greenway while learning more about your beloved Beantown from a knowledgeable guide.
Chicago: Morton Arboretum
In addition to the Fall 5K Color Run on October 1 (there’s also a Kids Dash!), the Morton Arboretum features 16 miles of hikes you can explore at any time. If you’re looking for something a little different, check out their Theatre-Hikes and combine walking through the woods with a live-action performance.
LA: YOGAqua
Yoga in a studio? Been there. Yoga on a mountain top? Done that. But yoga on a paddleboard? You’ve never seen a downward dog like this before. YOGAqua offers 90 minute aquatic yoga sessions in Marina Del Ray. Fair warning–you might get a little wet.
NYC: Group Night Hike
This group hike is a great way to meet new people and work on your fitness at the same time. No reservations are required for this 4-5 mile hike on Staten Island, and it’s free! Check out more NYC Parks fitness activities here.
