Ever wonder what a day in the life for a Marketing Coordinator is like? Read on to find out what Brooke does in a typical day!
5:30am Wake Up: My first alarm goes off at 5am, the second 5:15am, and the third (the one I finally don’t snooze…) at 5:30am. I roll out of bed and make a mad dash to the fridge to pour myself a glass of cold brew and almond milk. I crawl back into bed, scroll through my various social media feeds, and wait for the caffeine to kick in. By 6am, I’m up and dressed for the gym, which is fortunately just a quick walk from my apartment. As much as I don’t love waking up when it’s still dark outside, I do value my morning routine of coffee and weight lifting!
8am Head to Work: After my lift and shower, I head to work. I stop by my favorite coffee shop, Joe’s, for another cold brew (count how many times “coffee” appears in this post) and hop on the subway. While I ride, I usually listen to some tunes or a podcast — my current favorite being “The Genius Life” with Max Lugavere. 20 minutes later, I’m walking into the office — another short commute for me.
8:30am Breakfast and Plan the Day: Once I get settled, I make my breakfast of oatmeal with chia seeds, banana, peanut butter, and greek yogurt. I sit down with that bowl of deliciousness and plan for the day ahead by making a list of all the tasks I would like to accomplish.
As a marketing coordinator, this usually includes catching up with the wonderful #TeamEnlightened via email and Instagram, scouting out new communities with which to share our ice cream, meeting with members of the marketing team to discuss upcoming campaigns, and making headway on a variety of other projects. Currently I’m assisting with planning upcoming expos we’ll be attending, so that takes up a chunk of my morning. As much as I love keeping track of (and showing some love to) all the amazing people we work with on social media, nothing beats seeing that in-person reaction at an event or expo when someone tries our ice cream for the first time! Either way, I love that my job lets me spread the word about Enlightened ice cream in a variety of ways!
9am-2pm Work work work work work (cue Rihanna!): With a plan in place and another cup of coffee in hand, I begin checking things off my list while I jam out to a playlist of hip hop/R&B music. (J. Cole, Frank Ocean, and H.E.R are some of my favorites.) If I’m not at my desk, you can be sure to find me in the kitchen whipping up a bite to eat like sliced fruit or raw veggies alongside some greek yogurt. Since I have my undergraduate degree in nutrition, I’m all about filling up on healthy snacks. Luckily the Enlightened office is stocked with plenty!
Another awesome part of my job is being able to use my personal strengths to produce content. Whether that means a presentation to help educate my coworkers on all things food or reigniting the Beyond Better Foods Wellness Program for health professionals (contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like to be the first to get some educational materials and other goodies), I love the platform this company has given me to share knowledge with our fans.
2pm Lunch, Coffee Break, and More Work: At this time I like to head to one of my favorite cafes near the office to stretch my legs and get my afternoon cold brew fix. The change of scenery and fresh air helps me refocus and power through the rest of the day. I enjoy some grilled chicken, broccoli, and sweet potato and grind away!
5-6pm Homeward Bound: I wrap up some last minute tasks, make note of what I wasn’t able to finish and schedule that for the following day, then head towards the train. I’m kind of a homebody, so more often than not my apartment is the destination. But, every now and then, I make plans for happy hour or dinner with some friends or a date.
7pm Dinner and Bed: Since I wake up quite early, I also head to bed early. I make myself dinner, which is usually eggs and avocado toast (I’m a huge fan of breakfast food at all hours of the day), watch some Netflix (Grace and Frankie is my all time favorite show, but I also tend to stumble across random documentaries here and there), pack my meals, and lay out my gym clothes for the following day. I wrap myself in a blanket burrito and am fast asleep by 10pm, dreaming of all the possibilities the next day holds (and, of course, ice cream)!
Brooke’s favorite flavor is Brownies & Cookie Dough!
